Round and Round We Go
| Educator Resource Kit |
What is the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun? Why does the Moon appear to change shape in the sky? Why do we see different constellations at different times of the year? In this highly interactive and kinesthetic class, we'll explore these questions and more as we "dance the night away." For grade levels 2–4.
After participating in this Discovery Class, students will be able to:
- Explain and demonstrate the difference between rotation and revolution, and project these concepts onto the Earth, Moon and Sun system.
- Observe that objects in the sky have patterns of movement including the Sun, Moon and the stars, and explain the cause of this apparent movement.
- Observe the changes in the apparent shape of the Moon, and describe the pattern of changes.
- Observe that patterns of stars in the sky stay the same although they appear to move across the sky nightly and vary with the seasons.
